Upon arrival units found smoke showing from the Alpha side and Charlie side of the structure that indicated heat pushed structural smoke. Units quickly made an interior attack on the rear of the structure and found that the seat of the fire was difficult to access. A defensive attack was soon called for and aerial operations began. Reported MVC rollover of a tanker truck hauling ethyl alchohol at the 34.5 mile marker on the Bluegrass Parkway east bound. Upon arrival units found a tanker truck on its side with the driver out of the vehicle, units worked quickly to secure the scene. NCEMA and EPA were on scene to evaluate, the tanker truck was off loaded to another tanker.
Reported swift water rescue at the 100 block of Perry street at the low water crossing. Upon arrival units found that there had been a vehicle stalled in rushing water that was over the roadway. A bystander had hooked to the vehicle and pulled it from the water. Reminder: never try to drive through water that is covering a roadway.
Reported woods fire at the 1000 block of Whitesides road, upon arrival units found an area that was heavily involved in woods and timber litter. Units on scene made an attack on the fire to contain it, it was discovered that the fire was a controlled burn that wasn't called in. The fire was contained to the area burning and the property owner would be watching the area throughout the night.
Northeast NElson Fire & Rescue responded to the area of Rocky Hill Road for a structure fire, upon arrival units found that this was a chimney fire that was spreading to the roof and attic area. Units worked quickly to extinguish the fire and overhaul the chimney. Nelson County Fire and Spencer County fire all responded.
Northeast Nelson Fire & Rescue responded to the area of Ashes Creek and Simpson Road for a reported single vehicle MVC. Upon arrival units found a vehicle vs. tree, the driver was out of the vehicle and the passenger was pinned and entrapped. Units worked quickly to remove the patient from the vehicle. Due to this being an extended extrication Air Methods were called to fly the patient that was entrapped. NCEMS transported the driver to the hospital.
